Official Movie Site Gets Facelift No. 2

Spiral Productions LLC has just completed a major overhaul of the Official Project London Movie Site. The previous version of the site served us well until it became clear that to show more clips, content and visuals, we needed to completely re-theme our WordPress content management system. The new site still utilizes the WordPress CMS and was heavily customized to work for the movie. We believe this upgraded site will take us through the release of the movie.

New features on the site include among other things, a character gallery, and pages for the Graphic Novel and Project Manhattan.

Project London is an independent, no-budget, feature-length, live action movie with vivid, intense, and marrow-vibrating visual effects and animations created with the open source software Blender (and other traditional software) and 250 (or so) worldwide volunteers. It’s led by The Triumvirate and set in Seattle, Washington. It will be available for worldwide viewing in its entirety very soon. Spiral Productions Appearance at Emerald City Comicon

The Emerald City Comicon is the Premier Comic Book & Pop Culture Convention in the Pacific Northwest, and the perfect place for Spiral Productions to debut key products from the Project London Universe and feature appearances by the director, actors and book authors. The ECCC is being held at the Washington State Convention Center, Seattle, WA U.S.A., March 4-6, 2011. Visit our display in the Artist Alley (table H-22).

Fans at the ECCC will have access to exclusive premiere editions of two new books, Project Manhattan (prequel novella) and the Project London Graphic Novel. Plus a chance to meet some of the people bringing Project London to life including (from top left to right):

Spiral Productions will also be showing a brand new trailer for Project London at the ECCC, hoping to raise awareness of the movie among the expected 22,000+ attendees.

Project London (movie) short synopsis: Project London is a special effects-rich science fiction movie about a grief-stricken young man who joins a ragtag resistance force and engages in epic battles against Joint Command to avenge his father and save the planet.

Project Manhattan (prequel novella) short synopsis: An orphaned and powerful alien race arrive on planet earth during the chaos of World War II with a proposition that brings peace in exchange for a place to live. Dealing with a sinister secret with the power to decimate the planet is the thrust of this prequel to the upcoming movie, Project London.

New Teaser Clip for Project London

Today we released a new teaser clip on Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo featuring a deeper look into the world of Project London. In this clip you will be introduced to the opposing forces in the movie, namely Joint Command and The London Underground.

The music is “Multiply” by Half Acre Day and is available exclusively on the Project London Soundtrack Album. We recommend playing this clip with your volume control turned way up. For all things Half Acre Day, visit halfacreday.com.

Also going out starting today is the first news release for the movie, titled, “Project London: A Perfect Blend of No Money, No Hollywood, and Tons of Mind-Blowing Special Effects”.

Official Movie Site Gets Overhaul

Spiral Productions LLC has just completed a major overhaul of the official Project London movie site. The original site was a single HTML page with a graphic, a link to the production blog and a link to sign up for the sometimes monthly email. The new site is built on the WordPress CMS system with a custom theme by Press75.com, which was again heavily customized to work for the movie with support from Hao Xiaobo.

Features planned for the near future include a character gallery, a page about the graphic novel (being created by Branson Anderson) and enhanced store features.

Project London: Unleashed!

Synopsis: A homeless race of aliens known as Nalardians have found and been given refuge on Earth. A young man, Nebraska Higgins, is unwittingly thrust into a struggle for a planet in peril. His enigmatic father and sole pilot of the iconic robotic green exosuit, Arizona, is taken from him during a hot pursuit by the Joint Command (the global police and military force). The London Underground, a rag tag resistance force, appear to be interested in recruiting Nebraska, but he’s confused by his tragic loss and manipulative Joint Command Officers. Old and secret government experiments gone horribly wrong have been resurrected with horrific ramifications. Can Nebraska come to grips with the loss of his father as interplanetary calamities threaten to destroy the world around him? The fate of the planet hangs on the potential in a young man’s heart.

The visual effects for the film are being created using Blender, open source software. This is perhaps the first feature length film to combine live action elements with animations created using Blender. Which is why there are thousands of Blender users around the globe anxiously awaiting the release of this film.

Our release plans include entering the film in festivals, securing distribution through iTunes and Netflix and selling disks and merchandise directly from the film’s web site. Ramping up to the release, there will be significant efforts to reach the film’s audience through social media, a series of viral videos, press releases to appropriate media and other marketing stratagems. The release will begin with select city premieres and appearances at sci-fi and graphic novel conventions and events.

Additional promotional considerations are available including co-branding on limited runs of disks and packaging. Each of our select city premieres are prime co-branding opportunities. And we are completely open to creating special events for large groups including companies interested in including a showing of the film.

This clip, Benny’s Fuel and Repair, was created and released to attract Blender Artists to our project; the science fiction action adventure film, Project London, written and directed by Ian Hubert.

This is the first clip that we released from the movie and we are darn proud of the work everyone is doing to make this movie really cool.

Social Network for Project London Launched

This is a screen capture of the new social network for the Spiral Productions movie, Project London. The site serves as a production blog and communication portal for the cast & crew as well as a meeting place for Blender fans and users.

The website is a significant component of Spiral Productions LLC plans to extend the experience of enjoying the movie, Project London with fans who may be interested in interacting with actors, the director and producers. Many value added elements and experiences will originate from this site including events, video clips, interviews, downloads, announcements, tutorials on specific aspects of animation and at some point, access to the actual animation elements created for the movie.

The site is built on Ning.com architecture and is skinned with Project London artwork. Features include member pages and blogs, groups, events, forums, chat, photos and video, and robust flexibility to customize and feature elements on the fly.
